The renovation of this stone terraced house was a balancing project between historical memory and the current needs of a family. The house, with a lot of history, had accumulated modifications and internal divisions that had gradually hidden its essence. Over the years, the stone walls had been covered and the partitions had fragmented the space, generating small, closed rooms. The challenge was clear: <\/strong>to restore the house’s original character and, at the same time, adapt it to contemporary uses and functionalities. From the outset, the importance of preserving heritage elements such as the stone capital of the main window, the two interior arches, and the stone walls that gave the dwelling its identity was established. <\/p>\n\n

The first step was to ‘cleanse’ the house of additions that diminished its value, removing unnecessary partitions and freeing up the original walls. This allowed for more air and space, highlighted the existing arches, and revealed a capital that had previously been hidden. This operation completely transformed the perception of the dwelling, restoring its character and nobility. <\/p>\n\n

Once this foundation was established, work began on the new layout, designed to improve the family’s daily life. The kitchen, living room, and bedroom were integrated into a single space, creating a sense of continuity and spaciousness. This solution also optimized the limited natural light, allowing it to be distributed more efficiently and enhancing the dwelling’s brightness and transparency. <\/p>\n\n

Regarding materiality, finishes were chosen to complement the existing stone. The selected colors and textures respect the dwelling’s identity and help highlight its original elements. In contrast, the furniture was chosen with a modern and contemporary language, creating a deliberate contrast that further emphasizes the power of the stone and arches. This balance between old and new allows the house to exude tradition without sacrificing current comfort and aesthetics. <\/p>\n\n

Ultimately, this renovation has been a work of restoration and respect for heritage, but also of reinvention. We aimed to return the house to its essence, highlighting its historical elements, while adapting it to modern life, with more spacious, bright, and functional areas.
